Fourth Quarter Rally Lifts Men's Lacrosse to 8-7 Win at Pace

Ossining, N.Y. (March 28, 2015) –The Franklin Pierce men's lacrosse team started a three goal rally in the fourth quarter Saturday afternoon to take the 8-7 victory over Pace at Ossing High School in Northeast-10 Conference play.  

With the victory the Ravens improve their record to 6-2 with a 3-2 record in the Northeast-10, while Pace falls 3-4 and 1-3 in NE-10 play.

Freshman Sean Delea (Hampstead, N.H.) tied the game with his goal at 11:05, followed by a goal by freshman Brad Chapdelaine (Goffstown, N.H.) to take the Raven lead, 2-1, by 9:22 in the first quarter. A goal by freshman Anthony Gadaleta would tie the game up 2-2 with 8:29 to play in the first quarter.

The Ravens would respond with Delea posting his second goal to take back the lead for the Ravens, followed by a goal by junior Brendan Caldeira (Sandwich, Mass.) to secure the 4-2 lead. Freshman Christopher Brown would cut into the Ravens lead with a goal with just under two minutes to play in the quarter, 4-3.

Freshman Jack Carney (Dunbarton, N.H.) started the Ravens off strong in the second quarter to push the team back to a two goal advantage, 5-3.

At the 3:58 mark in the second quarter, the Setters started a rally that would stretch until the fourth quarter. With 11 seconds left in the second quarter, junior Matthew Cossidente would tie the game up, 5-5. The Setters shut down the Ravens in the third quarter keeping them scoreless, while they scored one goal to take the lead, 6-5.

Pace ended their rally at 8:11 in the fourth quarter to push their advantage to 5-7. In the final eight minutes, the Ravens began a rally of their own with a goal from senior Connor Defemia (Ellington, Conn.). A goal by senior Eddie Noonan (Foxboro, Mass.) at the 6:18 mark would tie the game 7-7. Junior Casey Burnett (Windham, N.H.) would score at 4:32 to give the Ravens an 8-7 victory.

Sean Delea led the offense with two goals. Jack Carney and Eddie Noonan each had a goal and assisted in another. Freshman Louis Palumbo (Commack, N.Y.) led the defense grabbing six ground balls and causing a turnover and junior Malcom Sutton (Hooksett, N.H.) grabbed four ground balls. Senior Don Denman (Exeter, N.H.) took the win (6-2) stopping 11 out of 18 shots for his 60:00 minutes in cage.

Freshman Trevor Chernoff led Pace with two goals. Junior Matt Ruquet led the defense grabbing seven ground balls and sophomore Jeremy Wiley grabbed four. Graduate student Michael Bonitatibus took to the loss (3-4) stopping 12 out of 20 shots in his 60:00 minutes in cage.

The Ravens travel to American International College on Wednesday April 1st for a 4:00 p.m. game time in Northeast-10 Conference play.
