Trio of Men's Lacrosse Standouts Named to NEILA All-Division II Team

Don Denman garners second major post-season award in 2014

RINDGE, N.H. (May 22, 2014) – Franklin Pierce University men’s lacrosse standouts, Don Denman (Exeter, N.H.), Eddie Noonan (Foxboro, Mass.), and Erik Kelly (Tewksbury, Mass.), on Thursday were named to the 2014 New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) All-Division II Team for their impressive performances this past season.

Denman, a junior goalkeeper, was placed on NEILA’s First-Team, while Noonan and Kelly were placed on the association’s second-team.

Denman earned his second major award this postseason, including being named to the 2014 All-Northeast-10 Conference Second-Team back in late April. He helped anchor one of the strongest defensive units in the NE-10 this season, while producing a 6-7 record with a 9.08 goals against average and a .596 save percentage. His 171 saves ranked as the third highest total in the league, marking the third-consecutive season he ranked among the top-five in the NE-10 in stops.

He made double-digit saves in all but two contests, including stopping a season-high 20 in the season finale versus Pace. Denman backstopped Franklin Pierce to an important 9-8 come-from-behind overtime win at Saint Michael’s on April 16, as he turned aside 17 shots to help guide the Ravens to their first win over the Purple Knights in program history.

Noonan, a junior attackman, returned to the lineup this season after missing all of the 2013 campaign with an injury. The setback, however, did not derail his productivity upon his return, as Noonan led the Ravens with 39 points on 24 goals and 15 assists.

He logged four-or-more points in seven contests, including a season-high five points (2 g, 3 a) in a pair of wins over Post (March 11) and Saint Michael’s (April 16). Noonan also tossed in a season-best four goals at Adelphi on March 22.

It marked the third season that Noonan was honored by NEILA in its post-season awards, as he was named the association’s 2011 rookie of the year, while also being named to its second-team. A year later in 2012 he was placed on NEILA’s Division II First-Team.

Kelly, a junior midfielder, threw in 15 goals this season to rank third on the team in that category. He logged multiple goals in five of the last eight games, and struck home a season-high three markers in a 10-3 win at Saint Rose on March 15. He also tallied an assist in that game to give him four points, which marked a season-high.
