BOXSCORE

GARDEN CITY, N.Y. (April 24, 2010) -- The Franklin Pierce men's lacrosse team dropped a 13-4 decision at Adelphi on Saturday in Garden City, N.Y. With the loss, the Ravens fell to 4-7 overall and 1-7 in the Northeast-10, while the Panthers improved to 7-4 and 5-3 in league play.

Junior attack Nate Wood (Binghamton, N.Y.) led the Franklin Pierce offense with a pair of goals, while freshman Brendan Cahill (Hollis, N.H.) had a two-point afternoon with a goal and an assist. Junior John Scanlan (Great Neck, N.Y.) scored the other goal for the Ravens on the afternoon. Junior goalkeeper Shea Campbell (Centerport, N.Y.) started in net for the Ravens and suffered the loss after he made 10 saves while allowing 12 of the 13 goals.

Jonathan Baron led all goal scorers on the day as the Panther attacker notched seven goals. He also assisted on one other tally for an eight-point afternoon. Devin Schneiderbauer started in goal and made eight saves while allowing just a pair of tallies to earn the win.

The Panthers scored a pair of goals a little more than 90 seconds apart midway through the first period to take a 2-0 lead. Baron threw in the first tally, while Chris Aiello got one by Campbell to cap the brief run.

Wood did get the Ravens on the board at the 4:03 mark of the period with a tally to pull Franklin Pierce to within a goal at 2-1.

It was all Baron and Adelphi in the second period as he scored five of the team's six goals to build an 8-1 lead heading into halftime. Kevin Kemp notched the other marker for the Panthers during the period. Adelphi outshot Franklin Pierce, 17-9, in the first 30 minutes.

Scanlan opened the scoring for both sides in the second half as he scored his lone goal of the game at the 5:08 mark of the third period to cut Adelphi's lead to 8-2.

However, the Panthers scored the game's next two goals, bridging the third and fourth periods, to make it 10-2. The brief run put the game out of reach as Adelphi cruised onto victory.

Franklin Pierce returns to action Monday night when it plays host to Assumption at 7 p.m. in Sodexo Field in Rindge.
