Luke Ferreira has been named Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Week.

RINDGE, N.H. (March 17, 2008) - Senior captain Luke Ferreira (Farmington, Maine/ Mount Blue) of the Franklin Pierce University men's lacrosse team was named the Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Week for the week ending March 16, the conference office announced on Monday afternoon. With the honor, Ferreira becomes the first men's lacrosse player in program history to earn NE-10 Player of the Week honors.

In the Ravens' lone game of the week, a 13-10 victory over Rollins College on Sunday, the senior attacker scored six times and added an assist for seven points. His six goals were one short of tying the program's single-game record of seven, achieved twice by Jimmy Ward '04, and he also tied career highs in goals and points on the day. The Farmington, Maine, native at one point scored five consecutive Raven goals, helping to turn an early 5-2 deficit into a 7-6 lead in the team's first win of the young season.

In his three-plus seasons with Franklin Pierce, Ferreira has scored 57 goals and added 17 assists for 74 points in 38 career games. He ranks in the top-10 all-time at the school in all three career categories, ranking fourth in career goals, sixth in points and seventh in assists. With two goals and four points, Ferreira would move into sole possession of third place in both categories all-time at Franklin Pierce.

Franklin Pierce (1-1, 0-0 NE-10) completes its brief two-game Florida swing on Tuesday evening, when the Ravens travel to Saint Leo, Fla., to take on Saint Leo University beginning at 7 p.m. The team hosts Pace University in its 2008 home opener at Sodexho Field on March 29.
