Saint Michael’s Handles Franklin Pierce, 20-2

COLCHESTER, Vt. (April 8, 2004) - Saint Michael's College posted a 20-2 victory over Franklin Pierce in Northeast-10 Conference men's lacrosse action at Doc Jacobs Field this afternoon.

Junior Mike Curley (West Hartford, Conn./Conard) and sophomore Brandon Kobelt (New York, N.Y./Fordham Prep) combined for eight goals and five assists to lead Saint Michael's. Kobelt tallied four goals and three assists, while Curley finished with four goals and two assists. Sophomore Eric Libby (Cohasset, Mass./Cohasset) added two goals and assists for the Purple Knights.

Junior attack Nick Mincolla (Cohasset, Mass./Gov. Dummer Academy) netted both Franklin Pierce goals, unassisted. Sophomore goalkeeper Ben Lek (Gaithersburg, Md./Col. Magruder) registered six saves for the Ravens.

The match was scoreless for over eight minutes until Saint Michael's netted four goals over the final 6:43 of the first quarter. The Purple Knights opened a 10-1 lead by the intermission, netting six goals in a ten-minute span.

Franklin Pierce (0-6, 0-3 NE-10) returns to action on Monday when it hosts Daniel Webster College at 3:30 p.m. Saint Michael's (2-4, 2-2 NE-10) visits Southern New Hampshire University on Saturday at 1 p.m.
