Franklin Pierce Rallies Past Green Mountain, 16-14

Mincolla's sixth goal of the match puts Ravens up for good with 3:29 on the clock

POULTNEY, Vt. (April 26, 2004) - Franklin Pierce collected its program-record third win of the season with a come-from-behind 16-14 decision over Green Mountain College in non-conference men's lacrosse action this afternoon.

Junior Nick Mincolla (Cohasset, Mass./Gov. Dummer Academy) led Franklin Pierce with eight points as he totaled six goals and two assists. Senior Jimmy Ward (Lynn, Mass./Lynn Classical) netted a game-best and season-high matching seven goals. Senior Kevin Medeiros (Chelmsford, Mass./Chelmsford) added a pair of markers, while junior Frank Parker (Derry, N.H./Pinkerton) chipped in a goal and assist.

Senior Nathan Krida (Taneytown, Md.) paced Green Mountain with four goals and an assist.

Freshman Matt Cloutier (Amherst, N.H./Souhegan) preserved the victory for the Ravens with 18 saves, while junior Larry Dressell (Trow, Mich.) posted 16 stops for the Eagles.

With the match tied (6-6) at the intermission, Green Mountain out-scored Franklin Pierce, 7-5, to take a 13-11 lead into the final quarter. The Eagles netted the first goal of the fourth quarter, but the Ravens rallied with five unanswered tallies to earn the victory. Mincolla's sixth goal of the day put the Ravens up for good with 3:29 left in regulation and Ward provided some insurance with his seventh with 30-seconds on the clock.

Franklin Pierce (3-10, 1-7 NE-10) returns to action on Wednesday when it hosts Assumption College at 3:30 p.m. Green Mountain (5-2) travels to Johnson State College on Thursday at 4 p.m.
