Daniel Webster Stuns Franklin Pierce, 15-8

Berthiaume mades 25 stops in net to lead Eagles

NASHUA, N.H. (April 14, 2003) - The Franklin Pierce men's lacrosse team dropped a 15-8 non-conference match to Daniel Webster College in men's lacrosse action this afternoon.

Sophomore Matt Peitrowski led the Eagles with four goals, while junior Nate Cosner finished with three goals in the win. Freshman Dan Haley, junior Tom Howe, and freshman Mike Patrick all had two goals a piece to lead the Eagles to their first victory of the season.

The Ravens were led by junior Derek Mandatori (Newton, Mass./Newton North) who netted a pair of goals and dished one assist. Senior Andrew McEntee (Manhasset, N.Y./Manhasset) followed with a goal and two assists, while junior Dean Patty (East Lyme, Conn./East Lyme) and sophomore Nick Mincola (Cohasset, Mass./Gov. Drummer Academy) chipped in two goals. Junior Jimmy Ward (Lynn, Mass./Lynn Classical) netted his first of the season and added an assist.

Sophomore Gabe Berthiaume was outstanding in net, making 25 saves in 60 minutes of work for the win. Franklin Pierce senior Andy Cote (Middleton, Mass./Masconomet) recorded 23 saves in 60 minutes in net.

Franklin Pierce (0-4, 0-3 NE-10) will look for its first win of the season on Wednesday when it hosts intra-state rival, Saint Anselm College, in a Northeast-10 Conference match at 2 p.m. Daniel Webster (1-3) next hosts Salem State College on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
