Pace Overwhelms Franklin Pierce, 21-2

RINDGE, N.H. (April 20, 2002) - The Franklin Pierce men's lacrosse team suffered a 21-2 loss to Pace University in Northeast-10 Conference men's lacrosse action at Winchendon School this afternoon.

Sophomore John Hemsley led the Setters with four assists and two goals, while senior Charlie Rizzuto tallied three goals and two assists. Juniors Joe Dlabola and Matt Duchnowski each added a pair of goals and dished a pair of assists. Freshman Mark Phillips netted three markers and chipped in one assist.

Sophomore Dean Patty (East Lyme, Conn./East Lyme) and freshman Josh Falcone (Windham, Maine/Bonny Eagle) scored Franklin Pierce's two goals of the afternoon, while Jake Holmes (Freeport, Maine/Freeport) recorded the Ravens lone assist.

The Setters stuck just 22 seconds into the first quarter, as Dlabola netted an unassisted tally to make the score 1-0. The Ravens answered two minutes later, as Patty registered his third marker of the season.

The Setters went on to score seven straight goals to close out the first quarter and take the 8-1 lead.

Franklin Pierce attempted to get back into the game with a goal from Falcone, but the Setters shut the Ravens down scoring twelve consecutive goals to put the game out of reach.

Franklin Pierce goalkeeper Andy Cote (Middleton, Mass./Masconomet) made 13 saves before going down with an injury in the fourth quarter. Sophomore Randy Bandoian (New Hampton, N.H./New Hampton Prep) made his debut in net and made five saves in ten minutes for the Ravens. Pace's Adam Skiadas made one save in 15 minutes of work before giving way to sophomore Joseph Cassano, who made eight stops in 45 minutes in net.

Franklin Pierce (0-11, 0-8 NE-10) returns to action on Tuesday, when it takes on the University of New Haven in non-conference action in New Haven, Conn. at 3:30 p.m. The Ravens return home on Saturday, April 27, when they host Le Moyne College in its final home game of the season at 11 a.m. Pace (6-3, 6-2) next travels to Merrimack College for a Northeast-10 Conference matchup at noon.
