WORCESTER, Mass. (11/16/24) - The Franklin Pierce men's hockey team played their second game of the series with the Assumption Greyhounds, Saturday afternoon. The Ravens fell 7-2 in NE10 Conference play.

Score: FPU 7, ASU 2

Records: FPU (0-7, 0-4 NE10), ASU (4-3, 4-0 NE10)

Location: Worcester, Mass.

Date: November 16, 2024

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Greyhounds were not shy in getting the scoring started. Less than two minutes in, Gavin Dach took advantage of a loose puck off of the Ravens' goaltender's rebound and shot it towards the net. The puck would deflect off a Ravens defenseman and into the back of the net.

  • A few minutes later, the Ravens would be sure to respond. Todd Branish (Littleton, Colo.) took a shot on net from right inside the blue line. John Sterling (Centreville, Pa.) grabbed the rebound and took it around the back of the net to score from the other side to tie the game at 1-1.

  • With only two minutes remaining in the first period, Ronny Paragallo took advantage of a breakaway opportunity on a Greyhounds power play to regain the lead, 2-1.

  • Once again, the Greyhounds got to work quickly on the scoring end. Jake Lavoie made it look like he was setting up a pass to John Woernle but took it himself to send the puck past Raven's goaltender Jeffrey Reda (Larchmont, N.Y.) to take a 3-1 lead.

  • Halfway through the second period, Paragallo sent the puck across the front of the goal towards Jonathan Surrette for the 4-1 lead on a power play.

  • On another power play for the Greyhounds, Lavoie found a loose puck right in front of the net to earn his second goal of the day and the 5-1 lead.

  • Jake DiNapoli was certainly in the right place at the right time as he took advantage of a rebound off of Reda for an easy tap in goal to go ahead 6-1.

  • The Ravens added a score with only seconds remaining in the game. Mario Paganini (Harrison, N.Y.) won the puck from the Greyhounds and sent it towards Phillip Parker (Medfield, Mass.) who would shoot and score.

  • The Greyhounds, however, would not let the Ravens close out the scoring sheet. DiNapoli broke away all on his own with a second remaining to finish the game 7-2.

BREAKING DOWN THE NUMBERS

  • The Greyhounds outshot the Ravens 35-34.

  • The Greyhounds went 2 for 3 on Power Plays while the Ravens went 0 for 4.

  • Goaltender Jeffrey Reda made 28 saves on 35 shots faced.
