Blaker Named Northeast-10 Rookie of the Week

Blaker has been named Northeast-10 Rookie of the Week for the
second time in January.RINDGE, N.H. (January 27, 2014) – Freshman forward Aaron Blaker (Rolling Meadows, Ill.) of the Franklin Pierce University men's ice hockey team has been named Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Week for the week ending on Jan. 26, as announced Monday by the Conference office.
The Ravens split a pair of games last week, with Blaker piling up four points across the two contests on three goals and an assist. He scored the team's lone goal in a 3-1 loss at Southern New Hampshire on Tuesday night. In Saturday's wild, 6-4 win at Assumption, Blaker chalked up three points with two goals, including the game-winner, and an assist.
On the season, Blaker went without a point in his first eight games, but has hit his stride over the last seven, pouring in eight points (5-3-8). After Saturday's game at Assumption, he currently owns a three-game point-scoring streak (4-2-6).
For the Ravens, it is the third weekly Northeast-10 award of the season, all coming in the form of Rookie of the Week honors. It is Blaker's second selection, as he was previously selected for the week ending on Jan. 5, while fellow freshman forward Brett Oldaker earned the accolade the week ending on Dec. 15.
The Ravens (4-12-1, 2-4-1 Northeast-10) return to the ice on Tuesday, Jan. 28, when they travel to Framingham State for a non-conference contest. Opening faceoff is set for 7:20 p.m. at Loring Arena in Framingham, Mass. Franklin Pierce next plays at home on Saturday, Feb. 1 against Stonehill at 8 p.m.
