Blaker Named Northeast-10 Rookie of the Week

Blaker's first collegiate goal on Saturday earned him Northeast-10
Rookie of the Week honors on Monday.RINDGE, N.H. (January 6, 2014) – Freshman forward Aaron Blaker (Rolling Meadows, Ill.) of the Franklin Pierce University men's ice hockey team has been named Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Week for the week ending on Jan. 5, as announced Monday by the Conference office.
The Ravens played only once last week, but Blaker played a pivotal role in the team's 3-2 win at Assumption on Saturday afternoon. On a power-play chance in the second period, he found the net for his first collegiate goal. The score broke a 2-2 tie and would ultimately stand as the game-winning goal.
On the season, Blaker has played in nine of the team's first 11 games. Saturday's goal was his first career point.
For the Ravens, it is the second weekly Northeast-10 award of the season, as the team collected the Rookie of the Week honor for the second straight week. Fellow freshman forward Brett Oldaker earned the accolade for the week preceding the semester break, the week ending on Dec. 15.
The Ravens (2-8-1, 1-2-1 Northeast-10) return to the ice on Tuesday, Jan. 7, when they return home to take on Saint Anselm in a Northeast-10 Conference contest. Opening faceoff is set for 7:30 p.m. at Jason Ritchie Ice arena in Winchendon.
