O'Brien O'Brien was named Northeast-10 Goaltender of the Week for his work last week.

RINDGE, N.H. (February 7, 2011) – Freshman goaltender Dave O'Brien (Groton, Mass.) of the Franklin Pierce University ice hockey team has been named Northeast-10 Conference Goaltender of the Week for the week ending on Feb. 6, as announced Monday by the conference office. In addition, sophomore forward Roscoe Sweeney (Falmouth, Mass.) has been named to the Northeast-10 Weekly Honor Roll.

In Franklin Pierce's only game last week, O'Brien stopped 35 of the 36 shots sent his way to post a 6-1 victory at Southern New Hampshire on Saturday night. The win gave the Ravens two points in the Northeast-10 standings by virtue of taking the season series from SNHU, 2-1-0.

On the season, O'Brien has seen the most time in net of any Franklin Pierce goaltender and has appeared in 10 games, including nine starts. He owns a 5-4-0 record to go with a 3.38 goals-against average and a .911 save percentage. O'Brien was previously named Northeast-10 Goaltender of the Week on Dec. 6.

In Saturday's game, Sweeney scored twice and added an assist to lead the way offensively. It was the second consecutive two-goal performance for the sophomore, who earned Northeast-10 Player of the Week accolades last week.

On the season, Sweeney has played in each of the Ravens' 21 games and leads the team with 22 points. He leads the team with 11 goals and is currently second on the team with 11 assists. Sweeney has scored four times on the power play, once shorthanded and has a pair of game-winning goals, while taking only two penalties totaling four minutes.

The Ravens return to the ice on Tuesday, Feb. 8, when they travel to University of New England for a non-conference contest. Opening faceoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Biddeford Ice Arena in Biddeford, Maine. Franklin Pierce next plays at home on Saturday, Feb. 12 against Assumption at 7 p.m.
