Sweeney Sweeney has been named Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Week after a four-point night in Saturday's 6-1 win over Stonehill.

RINDGE, N.H. (January 31, 2011) – Sophomore forward Roscoe Sweeney (Falmouth, Mass.) of the Franklin Pierce University ice hockey team has been named Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Week for the week ending on Jan. 30, as announced Monday by the conference office.

In Franklin Pierce's only game last week, Sweeney put home two goals and added a pair of assists to total four points in Saturday night's 6-1 victory over Stonehill.

On the season, Sweeney has played in each of the Ravens' 20 games and leads the team with 19 points. He leads the team with nine goals and is currently tied for the team lead with 10 assists. Sweeney has scored three times on the power play, once shorthanded and has a pair of game-winning goals, while taking only two penalties totaling four minutes.

The Ravens return to the ice on Tuesday, Feb. 1, when they travel to University of New England for a non-conference contest. Opening faceoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Biddeford Ice Arena in Biddeford, Maine. Franklin Pierce next plays at home on Saturday, Feb. 12 against Assumption at 7 p.m.
