RINDGE, N.H. (February 1,
2010) – Sophomore forward Anthony Chighisola
(Whitman, Mass.) of the Franklin Pierce University ice
hockey team has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Player of
the Week and Freshman of the Week for the week ending on Feb. 7, as
announced Monday by the conference office.
Chighisola piled up four points on two goals and two assists in the
only action of the week for the Ravens, a 6-2, home-ice victory
over Southern New Hampshire on Saturday night. His first goal of
the night was his 15th of the season, which tied a Franklin Pierce
program record for goals in a season, while his second goal of the
night gave him sole possession of the record. In addition, the four
points brought Chighisola’s season total to 31, which matches
the program’s high-water mark for points in a season.
On the season, Chighisola leads the team in goals, points and
power-play goals (five) through the first 22 games of the season.
He also ranks second on the team with 15 assists. For his career,
Chighisola has chalked up 28 goals and 29 assists to total 57
points through only 46 games and is on pace to shatter Franklin
Pierce’s all-time program records in all three categories
before his career in Rindge ends.
The Ravens (6-13-2, 3-4-1 Northeast-10) return to the ice on
Saturday, Feb. 13, when they travel to Assumption for a
Northeast-10 Conference contest. Faceoff is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
at Buffone Rink in Worcester, Mass. Franklin Pierce next plays at
home on Saturday, Feb. 20, when it concludes the regular season
against Stonehill at 7 p.m.
