RINDGE, N.H. (January 25,
2010) – Freshman forward Roscoe Sweeney
(Falmouth, Mass.) of the Franklin Pierce University ice
hockey team has been named to the Northeast-10 Conference Weekly
Honor Roll for the week ending on Jan. 24, as announced Monday by
the conference office.
Sweeney scored four points over Franklin Pierce’s two games
last week, with all four points coming against Southern New
Hampshire on Tuesday night, when he figured in all four goals
scored by the Ravens. In the first period, Sweeney assisted on a
pair of goals by sophomore forward Anthony Chighisola, before
Chighisola returned the favor and provided the assist on
Sweeney’s second period goal. Sweeney would add a third
period assist to complete his four-point evening.
On the season, Sweeney is second on the team with 19 points in his
first 19 games. He has scored six goals and leads the team with 13
assists. Sweeney has a pair of power-play goals on the campaign and
joins Chighisola as the only Ravens to average at least one point
per game.
The Ravens (4-13-2, 1-4-1 Northeast-10) return to the ice on
Saturday, Jan. 30, when they travel to Stonehill for a Northeast-10
Conference contest. Faceoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. at Foxboro
Sports Center in Foxboro, Mass. Franklin Pierce next plays at home
on Saturday, Feb. 6 against Southern New Hampshire at 7 p.m.
