PORTSMOUTH, R.I. (November 22, 2008) – Four different players registered four points apiece on Saturday afternoon as Salve Regina posted a 6-1 victory over the Franklin Pierce University ice hockey team in ECAC Northeast Conference play at Portsmouth Abbey Ice Rink. Freshman forward Justin Adams (Homer, Alaska/Eugene Generals) scored the lone goal of the game for Franklin Pierce.

Salve Regina opened the scoring with the first period’s only goal 6:44 into the game. Sophomore forward Lee Trott (Rehoboth, Mass./LaSalle Academy) notched his first of the season while freshman defenseman Andre DeSimone (Burlington, Mass./Tilton School) registered an assist. After nearly a full period without another goal, Franklin Pierce struck to even the score at the 3:43 mark of the second period. Adams found the net on the power play for his first of the season with assists going to freshman forward Bill Sullivan (Pittsburgh, Pa./Pittsburgh Jr. Penguins) and junior defenseman Kyle Kruse (Bourne, Mass./Bourne).

Salve Regina would then score two quick goals in the second half of the second period to take the lead for good. First, senior forward Conor McCahill (Highlands Ranch, Colo./Highlands Ranch) scored his first of the season, the eventual game-winner, off assists from junior forward Joseph Errico (West Haven, Conn./Fairfield Prep) and senior forward Jake Pickard (Wellfleet, Mass./Nauset Regional) at the 13:35 mark to make it 2-1. Just 25 seconds later, the Seahawks took a two-goal lead when sophomore forward Bryan Russell (Essex Junction, Vt./Tilton School) notched his third of the season off a feed from Nate Jewell.

Salve Regina would later salt the game away with three goals in the third period. Freshman defenseman Chris MacArthur (Durham, N.H./Proctor Academy) struck first with his first of the season on an assist from Trott at the 4:52 mark. MacArthur’s goal gave the Seahawks a 4-1 lead, prompted a timeout by the Ravens and chased Franklin Pierce starting goaltender, junior Jon Tuttle (Concord, N.H./Concord), from the game.

With sophomore Matt McCarthy (Natick, Mass./New Hampton School) now between the pipes for the Ravens, freshman forward Christian Scully (Franklin, Mass./St. Sebastian’s) extended the lead to 5-1 with his first goal of the season at the 8:20 mark, with assists credited to sophomore forward Joe Colaianni (Monroe, N.Y./Hotchkiss School) and junior defenseman Nathaniel Burns (Sandwich, Mass./St. Marks School). Finally, Pickard capped the scoring with his second of the year on assists from Colaianni and Errico at the 15:10 mark.

Each team finished with 19 shots on goal on the afternoon. Sophomore goaltender Pat Enloe (Stuart, Fla./Avon (Conn.) Old Farms) made 18 saves between the pipes for Salve Regina to earn the victory. Tuttle made 12 saves against 16 shots over 44:52 in goal and took the loss for Franklin Pierce. McCarthy played the final 15:08 in front of the Franklin Pierce cage and stopped one of the three shots he faced.
