Ice Hockey Duo Picks Up Northeast-10 Conference Accolades

Phil LaBreck has been named Second-Team All-Northeast-10
Conference.

RINDGE, N.H. (March 3, 2009) –
Junior forward Phil LaBreck
(Thornton, N.H./John Stark Regional) of the Franklin Pierce
University ice hockey team has been named to the All-Northeast-10
Conference Second Team, as announced on Friday by the conference
office. In addition, freshman forward Anthony Chighisola (Whitman, Mass./Williston
Northampton) has been named to the conference’s
All-Rookie Team.
LaBreck led Franklin Pierce with 17 assists this season while
playing in all 25 games. He added nine goals, which ranked second
on the team, to finish with 26 points, which tied for the club lead
in scoring. LaBreck collected three power-play goals and one
game-winning goal along the way. He also finished tied for fourth
in the Northeast-10 Conference in goals (4) and points (8) over the
five-game conference schedule. LaBreck earned Northeast-10
Conference Player of the Week honors on Nov. 17 and was selected to
the conference’s Weekly Honor Roll on four other occasions.
This is his first All-Conference selection after collecting
academic honors from both the Northeast-10 and the ECAC Northeast
Conference a year ago.
Chighisola enjoyed a standout freshman campaign in which he led the
Ravens with 12 goals while playing in 24 games. The freshman added
14 assists to finish tied with LaBreck in scoring, with 26 points.
Chighisola led the team with five power-play goals and three
game-winning goals and was the only member of the team to post a
double-digit goal total. In conference play, he tied for eighth in
the Northeast-10 in assists (4) and tied for 13th in points (5).
Chighisola was named Northeast-10 Conference Freshman of the Week
on Nov. 12, Dec. 8 and Jan. 19, in addition to one other selection
to the conference’s Weekly Honor Roll. He notched his first
career hat trick in a 4-0 win at Southern New Hampshire on Jan.

Franklin Pierce concluded its season with a 5-18-2 record, which
included a 2-3-0 mark in Northeast-10 Conference play. The Ravens
collected the third seed in the Northeast-10 Conference
Championships and hosted a postseason game for the first time in
program history.
