RINDGE, N.H. (February 23, 2009)
– Junior forward Phil
LaBreck (Thornton, N.H./John Stark Regional) of the Franklin
Pierce University ice hockey team has been named to the
Northeast-10 Conference Weekly Honor Roll for the week ending on
Feb. 22, as announced Monday by the conference office.
LaBreck scored a pair of goals in Franklin Pierce’s only game
last week, a 4-2 loss to Fitchburg State on Feb. 16.
In the first period, LaBreck scored at the 10:02 mark on a shot
from the right circle off assists from freshman forward Nate
Schursky and Shane Murphy, as the whole line chipped in on the
goal. At the time, the goal tied the game 1-1. Later, at the 10:33
mark of the third period, LaBreck scored on a breakaway to cut a
then 4-1 deficit to the 4-2 final. Murphy and Michael King made the
passes to spring LaBreck behind the defense.
On the season, LaBreck leads the team with 17 assists and is tied
for the team scoring lead with 26 points. His nine goals rank
second on the team.
The Ravens (5-16-2, 2-3-0, NE-10, 4-10-2 ECAC Northeast) return to
the ice later tonight, when they host Plymouth State in an ECAC
Northeast Conference contest. Faceoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at
The Winchendon School Ice Arena in Winchendon, Mass.
