Shane Murphy has been named to the Northeast-10 Conference Weekly
Honor Roll.

RINDGE, N.H. (February 16, 2009)
– Senior forward Shane
Murphy (Tolland, Conn./The Gunnery School) of the Franklin
Pierce University ice hockey team has been named to the
Northeast-10 Conference Weekly Honor Roll for the week ending on
Feb. 15, as announced Monday by the conference office.
Murphy finished the week with three points on two goals and an
assist. Against Southern New Hampshire on Thursday night, he took a
centering feed from Jay Stempniak, deked around the goaltender and
scored his seventh goal of the season. Ryan Strayer also assisted
on the goal 4:20 into the second period, which cut the Southern New
Hampshire lead to 4-1 at the time.
On Saturday against Stonehill, Murphy took a shot from the left
circle which was saved, but Casey Goodell pounced on the rebound at
the right post and slammed it home to give the Ravens a 2-0 lead at
the 13:54 mark of the first period. Later, in the third period,
Murphy would pick up a goal of his own when he redirected a shot
from the right point by Sean Woodring. Murphy’s eighth of the
season also featured an assist from J.P. Gasparrini and tied the
game at 3-3 with 9:56 to play.
On the season, Murphy ranks second on the team with eight goals and
has added six assists to rank third on the team in scoring, with 14
points.
The Ravens (5-15-2, 1-4-0, NE-10, 4-9-2 ECAC Northeast) return to
the ice later tonight, when they host Fitchburg State in an ECAC
Northeast Conference contest. Faceoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at
The Winchendon School Ice Arena in Winchendon, Mass.
