MILTON, Mass. (January 17, 2009)
– Junior forward Ross Enmark (Shelby Township, Mich./Alpena
Icedogs (NAHL)) scored three goals and added two assists to total
five points on Saturday evening to lead Curry to a 10-3 victory
over the Franklin Pierce University ice hockey team in ECAC
Northeast Conference play at Max Ulin Hockey Rink. Freshman forward
Anthony Chighisola (Whitman,
Mass./Archbishop Williams) tallied assists on each of
Franklin Pierce’s three goals while 15 Curry players finished
with at least one point on the evening.
Franklin Pierce opened the scoring just 60 seconds into the contest
when senior forward Coursen
Schneider (Stony Point, N.Y./Avon (Conn.) Old Farms) potted
his second goal of the season off assists from junior defenseman
Steve Della-Calce (East
Stroudsburg, Pa./Pope John XXIII) and Chighisola. However,
Curry would score three goals in a span of 2:40 later in the period
to take a lead it would never relinquish. Enmark picked up his
first of the night on the power play at the 12:56 mark, while
freshman forward Christopher Smith (Brighton, Mich./Wellington
Dukes (OPJHL)) netted his third of the season at the 13:19 mark and
junior forward Sean Sylvester (Randolph, N.J./Salisbury School)
scored his fourth of the year at the 15:36 mark. Enmark would notch
his second point of the night with the lone assist on
Sylvester’s goal. Schneider bookended the period with his
second goal of the night at the 15:53 mark off assists from
Chighisola and junior forward Phil
LaBreck (Thornton, N.H./John Stark Regional) to pull the
Ravens within a goal at 3-2.
Curry senior forward Jeffrey Hazelwood (Dublin, Calif./St.
Norbert’s College) opened the second period with a power-play
goal at the 1:02 mark to push the lead to 4-2. Hazelwood’s
10th of the season combined with his two assists to give him three
points on the night while freshman defenseman Ryan Barlock (Niles,
Ill./Springfield Jr. Blues (NAHL)) picked up the second of his two
assists. Senior forward Jeff
Kasper (South Boston, Mass./Catholic Memorial) once again
pulled Franklin Pierce within a goal with his third of the season
at the 9:16 mark, while Chighisola and LaBreck both capped their
multi-point nights with the assists.
From there, Curry would score the final six goals of the game to
post the 10-3 victory. Enmark scored his second of the night at the
10:05 mark of the second, assisted on the 11th goal of the season
for freshman forward John Williams (Flourtown, Pa./Quesnel
Millionares (BCHL)) at the 12:27 mark and then potted his sixth of
the season 7:58 into the third to tally the hat trick and cap his
five-point effort. Sylvester scored his second of the night while
shorthanded 35 seconds into the third. Also for Curry, junior
defenseman Jerry Hotarek (Foster City, Calif./Manhattanville)
picked up a pair of second-period assists, freshman forward Michael
Guzzo (Pickney, Mich./Penticton Vees (BCHL)) scored his seventh of
the season and added an assist and sophomore forward Ray Nicks
(Surrey, British Columbia) scored his first goal of the season.

the man advantage.

net for the Ravens in the third period. Junior Steven Jakiel (Santa
Clarita, Calif./Michigan) made 13 saves against 16 shots to earn
the victory for Curry.
