Week. |
RINDGE, N.H. (February 4,
2008) – Franklin Pierce University junior
Coursen Schneider (Stony Point, N.Y./Avon Old
Farms) and sophomore Jon Tuttle (Concord,
N.H./Concord) both earned weekly conference men’s
ice hockey awards on Monday afternoon. Schneider was named the
Player of the Week by both the Northeast-10 Conference and the ECAC
Northeast Conference, while Tuttle was tabbed as the NE-10
Goaltender of the Week for the week ending February 3.
Schneider earns his first career conference honors after recording
three goals and three assists in the Ravens’ two wins last
week. In his first game back following an eight-game layoff due to
injury, the junior winger potted a pair of goals, including the
game-winner in the second period, as the Ravens took down Worcester
State College, 4-3, on Wednesday. Schneider then came back with a
goal and a career-high three assists in the team’s 8-4 win
over Assumption College on Saturday night.
Despite playing in only 12 games this season, the Stony Point,
N.Y., native has scored nine goals and added eight assists for 17
points, all career highs. Schneider ranks third on the team in
goals and is tied for sixth in points, and his six power-play
tallies are second-best on the team as well. The junior leads both
the Northeast-10 and the ECAC Northeast in power-play points per
game (1.08/game) behind six goals and seven assists, while also
leading the Northeast-10 in goals per game (0.75/game) and
power-play goals per game (0.50/game).
In 56 career games, Schneider has scored 16 goals and assisted on
21 for 37 points, ranking in the top-10 all-time at Franklin Pierce
in all three categories. He is tied for seventh in career goals at
the school, ninth in career points and 10th in career assists as a
junior. Schneider also became the first Raven to record two
four-point games in one season this year, counting Saturday’s
game and his two-goal, two-assist effort on Nov. 12 at Worcester
State.
Jon Tuttle has been named
Northeast-10 Conference Goaltender of the Week. |
Tuttle was named the NE-10
Goaltender of the Week for the first time in his career after
earning two victories in the first two starts of his collegiate
career last week. The sophomore made his first career start on
Wednesday against Worcester State and made 24 saves on 27 shots to
earn his first collegiate victory, including some clutch saves in
the third period to secure the win. Tuttle followed up with a
25-save performance against NE-10 opponent Assumption to gain his
second consecutive win on Saturday.
The Concord, N.H., native has appeared in three games this season
for the Ravens, including his two starts. In limited action, Tuttle
leads Franklin Pierce with a 3.43 goals against average and an .871
save percentage to go along with his unblemished 2-0-0 record.
Franklin Pierce (6-14-0, 1-3-0 NE-10, 4-8-0 ECAC NE) will carry a
two-game winning streak into the team’s final regular-season
home game of 2007-08 on Saturday, as the Ravens host UMass
Dartmouth on Senior Night at the Winchendon School Ice Arena
beginning at 7 p.m.
