Bio

2007-08: Started three games in net for Franklin Pierce as a senior. Registered a 4.83 goals against average and an .847 save percentage. Made 21 stops in the season-opener against Salve Regina (11/3). Stopped a season-high 29 shots in the team's 3-2 loss to Wentworth (11/17).

2006-07: Led the team with 18 appearances and 17 starts in net. Made 526 saves in just under 976 minutes of ice time. His save total, save percentage (.871) and goals against average (4.80) were all second on the school's single-season record list. Earned his first win in a Ravens uniform in his first start, making 33 saves against Salve Regina (11/4); his effort earned him Northeast-10 and ECAC Goaltender of the Week honors. Also named NE-10 Goaltender of the Week on Nov. 20. Made a career-high 47 saves against Assumption (1/27).

Previous College: Attended SUNY-Canton for two years. Two-year member of the men's ice hockey team. Played in 12 gamesduring the 2005-06 season, posting a 3-3-2 record with 280 saves. Recorded a .886 save percentage with 36 goals allowed in 494 minutes played. Started 19 games in the 2004-05 season, totaling 531 saves en route to a .865 save percentage.

High School/Juniors: 2004 graduate of Thousand Islands Secondary. Member of the lacrosse team, serving as captain his senior year. Member of the South Greenville Rangers Jr. B team as well as the Brockville Braves Jr. A team. Earned Most Valuable Player honors in the rookie All-star game of the Jr. B league.

Personal: Born July 12, 1986, in Brockville, Ontario. Son of Tom and Judy Utman of Brockville, Ontario. Has a brother, Kent (18). Supports the Edmonton Oilers and his favorite athlete is Patrick Roy. His greatest sports moment was being named MVP of the rookie All-Star game at Rideau-St. Lawrence Jr. B. game. Majoring in secondary education. Aspires to play professional hockey in Europe.
