Keeso collects first shutout of the season with 20 saves in net.

WINCHENDON, Mass. (Jan. 18, 2006) - The Franklin Pierce Ice Hockey team suffered a tough 7-0 loss to Wentworth Institute of Technology in ECAC Northeast Conference action tonight at the Robinson-Broadhurst Arena. Red shirt freshman Ryan Singer (Kamloops, British Columbia/Alberni Valley) led all scorers, totaling three points on one goal and two assists.

Wentworth jumped out to an early 3-0 lead early in the first period, scoring its first goal less than a minute into the match-up. Singer started the scoring explosion for the Leopards just 57 seconds into the first frame off assists from sophomore Jeff Oddleifson (N. Vancouver, British Columbia/Prince George) and senior captain Blayne Goodman (Westlock, Alberta/Nanaimo). Senior captain Mark Cavanagh (Warwick, R.I./Toll Gate) and classmate Vince Guiducci (Hamilton, Ontario/Milton) each notched goals in the period off assists from Singer to give the Leopards the early advantage.

Goodman and Oddleifson would record goals for Wentworth in the second period, while junior Matt Buono (Ashburnham, Mass./Cushing Academy) and senior Justin Anonas (Alameda, Calif./Lowell) registered goals in the third period respectively to round out the scoring for the Leopards.

Wentworth out shot Franklin Pierce 45-20 as senior goaltender Robert Arduini (Fulton, N.Y./G Ray Bodely) made 38 saves in net for the Ravens. Sophomore Alan Keeso (Listowel, Ontario/Sarnia) stopped 20 shots for the Leopards to earn his first shutout of the season.

Franklin Pierce (1-11-3, 0-7-2 ECAC NE, and 1-3-0 NE-10) will take the ice again on Saturday as it travels to Nichols College at 8:30 p.m. Wentworth Institute of Technology (9-6-0, 6-0-0 ECAC) will be in action on Saturday as well as it travels to Curry College for a match starting at 4:35 p.m.
