No. 5 Franklin Pierce Faces No. 4 Saint Michael’s in NE-10 Quarterfinal

Ravens claim 5th seed in Northeast-10 Conference Tournament

RINDGE, N.H. (February 22, 2006) - The Northeast-10 announced on Monday that fifth-seeded Franklin Pierce will face fourth-seeded Saint Michael's College in the Northeast-10 Conference Tournament Quarterfinals this Saturday at Saint Michael's College starting at 3 p.m.

This season, the Franklin Pierce attack has been led by junior Brian DelSavio (Orangeburg, N.Y./Pearl River). The Raven forward leads the team with 23 total points, on 11 goals (eight power-play goals) and 12 assists. In the Ravens last regular season game, DelSavio notched his first career hat-trick in a loss to Southern New Hampshire University.

Sophomore Joseph Fields (Wallingford, Pa./Green Mountain Glades) and senior tri-captain Matt Clemente (Middletown, N.J./Laconia Leafs) have also been solid for the Ravens this season. Fields has registered 19 total points on a team-high 12 goals and seven assists, while Clemente has tallied 15 points on five goals (one game-tying goal) and ten assists.

Rounding out the Franklin Pierce offensive attack is senior tri-captain Mark Gibbons (Quincy, Mass./Archbishop Williams) and sophomore Ben Reynolds (Wallingford, Pa./Green Mountain Glades). The two Ravens have each totaled 14 points this season.

In net, senior goaltender Rob Arduini (Fulton, N.Y./G Ray Bodley) has started 14 of the Ravens 23 games. On the season, Arduini has stopped 494 shots en route to a 6.11 goal against average and a .858-save percentage.  

Franklin Pierce has faced Saint Michael's once this season, suffering a tough 6-5 loss on the road. Freshman Jason Kreps (Culver, IN./Culver Military Academy), sophomore Peter Wilson (Marshfield, Mass./Marshfield) and junior Brad Leighton (Cumberland Maine/East Coast Rangers) each scored their first goals of the season, while DelSavio and Fields chipped in one goal apiece.    

Franklin Pierce ended the regular season 1-18-4 overall, 1-4-0 in the Northeast-10. The winner of the Franklin Pierce/Saint Michael's match will face the top-seeded Southern New Hampshire University on Wednesday, March 1st. The Northeast-10 Conference finals will be held on Friday,  March 3rd.
