Fields notches a goal and assists in tie for the Ravens

WORCESTER, Mass. (Jan. 28, 2006) - The Franklin Pierce Ice Hockey team skated to a 3-3 tie with Assumption College in ECAC Northeast Conference action tonight at the Charles Buffone Hockey Rink. The Ravens were led by sophomore Joseph Fields (Lansdale, Pa./Green Mountain Glades) who notched two points on one goal and one assists.

After a scoreless first period, Fields opened the scoring just 1:09 into the second period off an assist from senior tri-captain Mark Gibbons (Quincy, Mass./Archbishop Williams). Assumption quickly rallied back as freshman Craig Moreton (Lynnfield, Massachusetts / Boston Harbor Wolves ) notched his fifth goal of the season less than two minutes later.

Franklin Pierce defenseman Mike Anderson (Keene, N.H./Laconia Leafs) registered his first goal of the season midway through the second frame to give the Ravens a 2-1 edge, but Assumption sophomore Jim Trahon (Needham, Mass./Bridgewater Bandits) would tie the game at 2-2 18:00 into the period.

In the third period, the Ice Dogs would score first as senior Jeff Llvonen (Auburn, Mass./Brewster Academy) notched his 12^th goal of the season off senior Bobby Fanciullo (Medford, Mass./Arlington Catholic) and Chris Genovese's (Woburn, Massachusetts / Governor Dummer) second assists of the game.

Later in the third period, Franklin Pierce sophomore Ben Reynolds (Wallingford, Pa./Green Mountain Glades) would tally his seventh goal of the season, third in the last two games, to knot the score at 3-3.

In overtime, neither team was able to capitalize as Franklin Pierce goaltender Robert Arduini (Fulton, N.Y./Gray/Bradely) made two saves in overtime to preserve the tie for the Ravens. Aruduini finished the match with 32 saves as freshman goaltender David Pinkham (Malden, Mass./Arlington Catholic) stopped 20 shots in net for the Ice Dogs.

Franklin Pierce (1-13-4, 0-9-3 ECAC NE, 1-3-0 NE-10) will take the ice again next Saturday as the Ravens host UMass Dartmouth at 7:30 p.m. Assumption College (4-12-1, 3-8-1 ECAC NE) will be in action again on Tuesday as it hosts Johnson and Wales University at 7:30 p.m.
