Franklin Pierce Falls to Plymouth State, 4-2

WINCHENDON, MASS. (FEB. 16, 2005) - The Franklin Pierce ice hockey team dropped a 4-2 decision to Plymouth State University tonight in ECAC Northeast competition at the Robinson-Broadhurst Arena in Winchendon, Mass.

Freshmen Chris Cadieux (Nashua, N.H./Salem Ice Dogs) and Deni Bojadzic (Gohthenburg, Sweden/Moldal Stars) tallied three points apiece for the Panthers. Cadieux racked up two goals and an assist, while Bojadzic finished with a goal and a pair of helpers. Junior Mark Gibbons (Quincy, Mass./Archbishop Williams) figured in on both goals for the Ravens, scoring one and assisting on the other.

The teams went scoreless until the 8:37 mark of the second period, when Cadieux notched his first goal off assists by classmate Bobby Dashner (Hyde Park, Mass./Winchendon Prep) and Bojadzic. Sophomore Jay Londer (Philadelphia, Pa./Laconia Leafs) netted an unassisted goal 23 seconds later to give the visitors a 2-0 advantage, and Cadieux added a short-handed goal in the 16th minute of the second frame, giving Plymouth State a three-goal cushion.

Franklin Pierce got on the board 11:14 into the third period, when sophomore C.J Demmons (Wolfeboro, Mass./Archbishop Williams) capitalized on a Gibbons helper to make the score 3-1. Gibbons brought the hosts to within a goal, as he took a pass from freshman Joseph Fields (Lansdale, Pa./Green Mountain Glades) at the 15:39 mark of the third frame.

The Panthers iced the contest in the final minute of regulation on a Bojadzic power-play goal and held the hosts scoreless for the final 25 seconds to pick up a 4-2 victory.

Freshman goaltender Karl Helgesson (Lerum, Sweden/Moldal Stars) saved 32 shots en route to the win, while Ravens netminder Dennis Millman (Billerica, Mass./Kimball Union) suffered the loss despite stopping 45 shots.
