Three Ravens Earn ECAC All-Academic Honors

Sabini, DePuydt and Millman Named to the Men's Northeast Ice Hockey All-Academic Team

RINDGE, N.H. (May 13, 2004) - Franklin Pierce senior captain Mike Sabini (New Paltz, N.Y./Newburgh Polar Bears), junior Matt DePuydt (Houghton, Mich./SUNY-Canton) and sophomore goaltender Dennis Millman (Billerica, Mass./Kimball Union) were named to the 2004 ECAC Men's Northeast Ice Hockey All-Academic Team by the Conference office.

Sabini, DePuydt and Millman were three of 71 total student-athletes to earn this honor. To be a member of the all-academic team, the student-athlete must have completed at least one academic year, must maintain a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.00 on a 4.00 scale, and must have competed in at least one-half of his team's contests during the current season (the goaltender must have played at least 33 percent of his team's minutes).

DePuydt, who earned a 3.56 GPA, appeared in 23 games for the Ravens and recorded seven goals, and nine assists for 16 points, including a two-goal game against Stonehill in the quarterfinals of the Northeast-10 Tournament. His goals and points totals were good for third on the squad while he ranked second in assists.

Sabini was named to the All-Academic team for a second-straight season as a mathematics major with a 3.23 GPA. He finished the year appearing in 22 games with one goal.           

Millman, a mass communication major with a 3.11 GPA, appeared in 11 games in net for the Ravens, starting nine. He made 365 saves with a team-best .867 save percentage and recorded wins against Western New England and Castleton State.

Franklin Pierce ended its second varsity season with a 5-19-0 record overall, 2-17-0 in the ECAC Northeast Conference.
