MANCHESTER, N.H. (Feb. 22, 2003) - The Franklin Pierce men's ice hockey team wrapped up the ECAC Northeast Conference regular season with a 13-2 loss to intra-state rival, Southern New Hampshire University, this evening.

The Penmen were led by sophomores John Lavery and Chris Russo and freshman Mike Cardarelli, who all posted four points in the win. Lavery totaled a pair of goals and assists, while Cardarelli netted a goal and dished three assists. Russo was the team's top playmaker, recording four helpers in the win.

Franklin Pierce freshmen Rob Pendola (Everett, Mass./Mass. Mariners) and Matt Clemente (Middletown, N.J./Laconia Leafs) each netted a goal and an assist for the Ravens, while junior Ed Farinato (Medford, Mass./Bay State Breakers) recorded two assists.

The Penmen netted four unanswered goals from the 5:27 to the ten-minute mark of the first to break the game wide open.

The Ravens didn't respond until 11:51, when Pendola netted a marker on the power play to cut the lead to three.

Southern New Hampshire dominated in the second, tacking on back-to-back goals in a span of a minute to put the game completely out of reach.

Clemente then netted the Ravens second power play goal of the game at the 10:36 mark, but it was enough as the Penmen would go on to six more goals in the final minutes of regulation to make the final, Southern New Hampshire 13, Franklin Pierce 2.

Southern New Hampshire netminder, Martin Stehl made ten saves, while classmate Rory Parnell made four saves in the win. Franklin Pierce junior Andy Tinti (Buffalo, N.Y./SUNY Canton) recorded 25 saves before giving way to freshman Dennis Millman (Billerica, Mass./Kimball Union), who stopped 18 shots.
