Men's Golf Finishes 10th at Le Moyne

CICERO, N.Y. (October 17, 2016) – The Franklin Pierce University men's golf team heads home to Rindge after a 10th place finish at the Le Moyne Fall Invitational.

Freshman Sam Myers (Colchester, Vt.) was the Ravens leader from the three spot as he shot 147 (+3) over the both days good enough for 13th place. The reigning Northeast-10 Rookie of the Week was tied for first place (70, -2) after the first day of competition, but added seven strokes to his day two score.

As a team, the Ravens vastly improved their play on day two as they knocked 10 strokes off their day one score to shoot 301 (+13) on day two. Overall, FPU was 612 (+36) over both days.

Fellow NE-10 foe Southern New Hampshire won the invitational as they hit a combined 578 (+2). St. Thomas Aquinas placed second (583, +7) and Rollins College rounded out the top three at 586 (+10).

Freshman Keeton Foster (Chesterfield, N.H.) was the most improved Ravens golfer as he took a team-best 12 strokes off his day one score. Team captain Tom Arisco (Cheshire, Conn.) ranked fourth in total pars with 26.

Day One

Myers headed into the clubhouse tied for medalist honors as he shot a 70 (-2). Arisco and freshman Anthony Vincequere (Milbury, Mass.) shot in the high 70s as they both shot 79 (+7). Foster ended the first day with an 83 (+11) and Taylor Simpson (Londonderry, N.H.) hit an 88 (+16).

Day Two

Foster, Arisco and Simpson each improved vastly in the second day of golfing. Simpson dropped nine strokes off his day one score and shot a 79 (+7). Arisco decreased his score by five strokes as he ended the second day at 74 (+2). The team captain tied for 33rd place at 153 (+9). Anthony Vincequere added only one stroke to his scorecard as he shot an 80 (+8) on day two.

The Ravens return to the course next Sunday when they head to Cape Cod for the NEIGA Championship at the Captains Golf Course in Brewster.
