RESULTS

JAFFREY, N.H. (October 10, 2012) – The Franklin Pierce University golf team won the rain-shortened, nine-hole, FPU Fall Invitational #2 on Wednesday afternoon at The Shattuck Golf Course in Jaffrey, N.H. The Ravens shot a 26-over-par, 170, to win the tournament by 11 strokes over Saint Michael’s (181, +37).

A Franklin Pierce golfer also claimed medalist honors in the tournament as junior Adam Spencer (Jericho, Vt.), who was playing as an individual entry, shot a one-over-par, 37, to win the title by four strokes.

Each golfer played the front nine of The Shattuck as rain forced the back nine to be closed for the afternoon. Spencer posted two birdies on the day, including on the sixth hole, which is broken up into three parts due to hazards cutting through the fairway.

Senior co-captain Ian Landry (Loudon, N.H.) finished in a three-way tie for second place as he carded a five-over, 41, on the front. It marked his third top-three finish of the fall season.

A pair of freshmen tied for fifth with six-over, 42’s, including Brad Auclair (Cumberland, R.I.) and Sean Shepard (Griswold, Conn.). Shepard was competing for the Ravens’ A squad, while Auclair was an individual competitor.

Classmate Nick Adjutant (Rochester, N.H.) tied for seventh with a 43 (+7), while competing for the A squad, and senior co-captain Ricky Gray (Jaffrey, N.H.) was the other Raven to finish in the top-10 as he tied for ninth with a 44 (+8). Gray, too, was playing for the Ravens top squad.

The other three Ravens to compete on the afternoon included sophomore Matthew Bardsley (Orange, Mass.), who placed 12th with a 45 (+9); freshman Jack Manning (North Reading, Mass.), who tied for 16th with a 47 (+11); and freshman Josh Rubenstein (Stoughton, Mass.), who placed 30th with a 55 (+19). Bardsley competed for the A team, while Manning and Rubenstein entered as individuals.
