Golf Sits in Tie for Fifth Place Following Day One of NE-10 Championship
Ian Landry tied for 18th; looking for second-consecutive season of earning All-NE-10 honors
ENDICOTT, N.Y. (September 30, 2012) -- The Franklin Pierce University golf team shot a 313 (+25) on Sunday to sit in a four-way tie for fifth place following the first day of the 2012 Northeast-10 Conference Championship, held at En-Joie Golf Course in Endicott, N.Y.
The Ravens are currently tied with American International, Southern New Hampshire and host-school Le Moyne for fifth, as all four squads are 12 shots back of UMass-Lowell, which sits in first after shooting a 13-over-par, 301, in the opening round.
A trio of Ravens are among the top-20 in the individual standings following the first 18 holes, including sophomore Stew Wise (Angiers, N.C.), who in competing in his first conference title match, sits in a tie for ninth place after carding a four-over, 76, on Sunday.
Wise will enter Monday's final round in a five-way tie for ninth and just three shots off the lead, which is currently occupied by Adelphi's Ryan Snouffer, Bentley's Dan McQueen and AIC's Ramon Ventura, as all three shot one-over-par, 73's, in the first round.
Senior co-captain Ian Landry (Loudon, N.H.) and freshman Brad Auclair (Cumberland, R.I.) both shot plus-six, 78's, in the first round and are tied for 18th place. Landry will look to move into the top-10 of the standings on Monday and secure his second All-NE-10 accolade in as many years. Last season, he finished eighth in the standings to earn First-Team All-NE-10 honors.
Freshman Sean Shepard (Griswold, Conn.) shot an 81 (+9) in the first round and is tied for 35th, while senior co-captain Ricky Gray (Jaffrey, N.H.) is in 43rd after the opening 18 as he carded an 11-over, 83.
Monday's final round will tee off at 9 a.m.
