CANTERBURY, N.H. (September 25, 2012) -- Freshman golfer Brad Auclair (Cumberland, R.I.) fired a final round, 72 (E), on Tuesday to claim the individual title, while also sparking the Franklin Pierce University golf team to the team championship at the SNHU Penmen Invitational at the Canterbury Woods Country Club in Canterbury, N.H.

The Ravens shot a final round, 307 (+19), to claim their first team title of the 2012 fall season. Franklin Pierce trimmed two strokes off its first round score of 309 (+21) and finished the 36-hole tournament with a 616 (+40). The Ravens finished ahead of host-school Southern New Hampshire, which placed second with a two-round total of 628 (+52).

Auclair shot a first round 75 (+3) on Monday, but turned in an even better score on Tuesday with the 72 mentioned above. It marked his first individual title in just his third collegiate match. Auclair's two-round total of 147 (+3) was five strokes better than runner-up Jason Lussier of Saint Anselm, who carded an eight-over-par 152.

All five Ravens finished among the top-14 of the individual standings, including senior co-captain Ian Landry (Loudon, N.H.), who finished third with a 36-hole total of 153 (+9). He shot a final round, 74 (+2), to register his second top-three finish in three starts this fall.

Sophomore Stew Wise (Angiers, N.C.) placed sixth after shooting a second round, 80 (+8), to finish with a final total of 12-over-par (156). Senior co-captain Ricky Gray (Jaffrey, N.H.) tied for 10th with a two-round score of 160 (+16), including shooting a final round 81 (+9) on Tuesday. Freshman Sean Shepard (Griswold, Conn.) tied for 14th with a 36-hole total of 165 (+21), while recording an 86 in the last round.

The win gives the Ravens a lot of confidence heading into the Northeast-10 Conference championship, which begins this Sunday at the En-Joie Golf Course in Endicott, N.Y. Franklin Pierce placed second at last year's conference championship, which marked the best finish in program history. This year's championship tees off with the first round on Sunday at 1 p.m., and will conclude with the second round on Monday beginning at 9 a.m.

Franklin Pierce's second-five golfers will be in competition on Wednesday when the Ravens compete in the Elms Invitational in Chicopee, Mass.
