Golf Sits in Eighth Place After Round One of Northeast Intercollegiate Championship
Brad Auclair tied for 14th after round one
BERLIN, Conn. (September 16, 2012) -- The Franklin Pierce University golf team shot a 34-over-par, 322, on Sunday to sit in eighth place after the first round of the 2012 Northeast Intercollegiate Championship at Timberlin Country Club in Berlin, Conn.
UMass-Lowell shot a +16 (304) to sit in sole possession of first place after one round in the 10-team tournament.
Freshman Brad Auclair (Cumberland, R.I.) carded the lowest score for the Ravens on the afternoon, as he shot a seven-over 79. He stumbled going out with a 41 on the front nine, but recovered nicely coming in with a 38 on the back. Auclair will enter Monday's final round in a tie for 14th place.
Fellow freshman Sean Shepard (Griswold, Conn.) follows in a tie for 19th place as he shot an 80 (+8) on Sunday. Sophomore Stew Wise (Angiers, N.C.) carded an 81 (+9) to sit in a tie for 27th after one round. Like Auclair, Wise struggled on the front shooting a 43, but turned it on during the back nine as he shot a 38.
Senior co-captains Ian Landry (Loudon, N.H.) and Ricky Gray (Jaffrey, N.H.) follow in 31st and 36th place, respectively. Landry shot a 10-over, 82, during the opening round, while Gray carded an 83 (+11).
The Ravens return to action on Monday with the final round of the Northeast Intercollegiate, which will begin at 8 a.m. in Berlin.
