Golf Finishes 11th at Northeast-10 Championship

B.J. Powers highest Ravens finisher as he ties for 34th

RESULTS

ENDICOTT, N.Y. (October 4, 2010) – The Franklin Pierce University golf team carded a 332 (+44) on Monday during the final round of the 2010 Northeast-10 Conference Championship at the En-Joie Country Club in Endicott, N.Y. The Ravens concluded the tournament by placing 11th after firing a two-round of total of 89-over-par (665).

Junior co-captain B.J. Powers (Southbury, Conn.) was the highest Raven finisher during the tournament as he tied for 34th with a total of 161 (+17). After shooting an 82 in the first round on Sunday, Powers responded by carding a 79 (+7) during Monday’s final round.

Three other Ravens finished among the top-50 in the individual standings, including Justin Haapala (Danielson, Conn.), who placed 41st after carding a two-round total of +22 (166). He shot identical scores of 83 on both days.

Ian Landry (Loudon, N.H.) finished in 47th after shooting a 26-over-par, 170, for the tournament. Landry shot an 83 on Sunday and ended the tournament by carding a final-round 87.

Matt Lennon (Bow, N.H.) tied for 49th after he shot a final-round 83 (+11) on Monday, which was five strokes lower than his first round 88 (+16) on Sunday. He finished the tournament with a two-round total of 171 (+27).

Junior co-captain Brian Fleckles (Sandwich, Mass.) was the fifth Ravens golfer as he finished in 53rd place with a two-round total of 173 (+29). Fleckles carded an 88 in the final round on Monday.

Adelphi and American International finished the tournament tied for first with scores of 607 (+31). However, Adelphi won the conference title as it earned the tournament’s tie-breaker as the team’s No. 5 golfer had a lower score than AIC’s No. 5 golfer.

Garrett Beyor of AIC earned individual medalist honors as he shot a 144 (E) during the two rounds and won a playoff over Pace’s Kent St. Charles, who also carded a 144 during the championship.

Franklin Pierce returns to action Sunday and Monday when the Ravens travel to Country Club of New Hampshire in Manchester to compete in the SNHU Invitational. The tournament will tee off at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday and follow with a 9 a.m. tee off on Monday.
