FARMINGTON, Conn. (September 20, 2010) – The Franklin Pierce University golf team shot a 41-over-par, 329, on Monday to conclude play in the 2010 Northeast Intercollegiate Championship. The Ravens carded a two-day total of 633 (+57) to finish in seventh place in the event, which was held at the Tunxis Plantation in Farmington, Conn.

Junior co-captain B.J. Powers (Southbury, Conn.) had another strong round during the second day as he shot a final-round 78 (+6) to tie for 11th in the individual standings. His 78 came just one day after Powers carded a three-over 75. Powers, whose two-day total was a +9, 153, has finished among the top-11 in the individual standings in all three tournaments this fall.

Junior co-captain Brian Fleckles (Sandwich, Mass.) carded an 81 (+9) during the second day of competition and finished with a two-round total of 159 (+15) to finish in a tie for 33rd place. Sophomore Ian Landry (Loudon, N.H.) also placed 33rd in the individual standings as he shot a final-round 84 (+12). Landry struggled during the final round, but it did not take away from his strong three-over-par, 75, which he shot during the tournament’s opening round on Sunday.

Junior Matthew Lennon (Bow, N.H.) placed 44th in the standings as he shot a final-round 86 (+14) to finish with a two-round total of 162 (+18). Junior Robert Greggerson (Seekonk, Mass.) was the other Ravens golfer to compete in the tournament and he carded a final-round 91 (+19) to finish in 63rd place with a two-day score of 177 (+33).

Wilmington (Del.) won the tournament with a 28-over-par, 604. American International followed in second with a +32 (608), but did record the low team round on the second with a 302 (+14).

Franklin Pierce returns to action next Wednesday when it competes in the Elms College Tournament at the Westover Country Club in Granby, Mass.
