Matt Lennon wins first individual title of his collegiate career

RINDGE, N.H. (April 26, 2011) -- The Franklin Pierce University golf team concluded its 2010-11 season on Tuesday by winning the FPU Spring Invitational at The Shattuck in Jaffrey, N.H. The Ravens shot a 47-over-par, 335, to win the event, while the Franklin Pierce #2 team placed second with a 336 (+48). Worcester State placed third with a 357 (+69).

Junior Matt Lennon (Bow, N.H.), of the FPU #2 squad, won the individual title by shooting a strong, six-over-par score of 78. It marked the first individual medalist title of his collegiate career.

Freshman Adam Spencer (Jericho, Vt.) continued his strong play as he fired a 79 (+7) to finish second for the FPU #1 team. It marked the second-straight tournament he finished in the top-10 of the individual standings.

Senior Justin Haapala (Danielson, Conn.) and junior Bobby Greggerson (Seekonk, Mass.) finished third and fourth, respectively. Haapala played for the FPU #1 team and fired an 80 (+8), while Greggerson teed it up for the #2 team and shot an 83 (+11).

Junior co-captain B.J. Powers (Southbury, Conn.) played for the #1 team and finished tied for fourth after carding a 12-over-par, 84.

Freshman Andrew Thompson (Abington, Mass.) finished eighth with a 13-over-par, 85, playing for the #2 team, while Rick Gray (Jaffrey, N.H.) came in 10th for the #2 team with a 90 (+18).

Sophomore Ian Landry (Loudon, N.H.) played for the #1 team and finished 11th with a 20-over-par, 92, while Dan Hinckley (Dracut, Mass.) played for #2 and placed 12th with a 99 (+27).
