Golf Sits 8th Following Day 1 of AIC Spring Invitational
Senior Justin Haapala shoots nine-over, 81, to sit in a tie for 24th following first round
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (April 18, 2011) -- The Franklin
Pierce University golf team sits in eighth place following the
first day of competition at the AIC Spring Invitational at the
Springfield Golf Club in Springfield, Mass. The Ravens carded a
60-over, 348, during the opening round on Monday. Host-school
American International sits in first place after one round as the
Yellow Jackets shot a seven-over par, 295, during the first
round.
Senior Justin Haapala (Danielson, Conn.) had a
solid first round for the Ravens as he is tied for 24th after
shooting an 81 (+9) in the first round. Junior co-captain
Brian Fleckles (Sandwich, Mass.) made his 2011
spring debut on Monday and shot an opening-round 86 (+14) to sit in
a tie for 35th.
Sophomore Ian Landry (Loudon, N.H.) is 42nd
following the first round after shooting an 18-over, 90. Junior
co-captain B.J. Powers (Southbury, Conn.) is one
spot back in 43rd after one round as he carded a +19 (91) on
Monday. Freshman Dan Hinckley (Dracut, Mass.) is
in 46th place after shooting an opening-round 94 (+22).
The Ravens return to action on Tuesday with the final round of the
AIC Invite, which will begin at 9 a.m.
