Golf Places 10th at River Hawk Invitational
Dan Hinckley is the highest Ravens finisher in the tournament
DRACUT, Mass. (April 17, 2011) -- The Franklin Pierce
University golf team placed 10th out of 13 teams this past weekend
at the 2011 River Hawk Invitational at Meadow Creek Golf Club in
Dracut, Mass. The Ravens carded a two-round total of 687 (+119),
while American International won the tournament with a 56-over par,
624.
Franklin Pierce was led by freshman Dan Hinckley (Dracut,
Mass.), who had a solid tournament in a return to his
hometown, as he finished 29th following a two-round total of 168
(+26). He struggled in the first round on Saturday after he shot an
87 (+16), but he regrouped to shoot a solid 81 (+10) during windy
conditions on Sunday.
Sophomore Ian Landry (Loudon, N.H.) tied for 32nd
after he shot a two-round score of 169 (+27). Landry shot an 83
(+12) during the first round, but followed with a final round 86
(+15) on Sunday.
Senior Justin Haapala (Danielson, Conn.) tied for
39th following a two-round total of 172 (+30), in which he shot 87
(+16) on Saturday and 85 (+14) on Sunday. Junior co-captain
B.J. Powers (Southbury, Conn.) placed 53rd with a
36-over par, 178, while classmate Matthew Lennon (Bow,
N.H.) rounded out the Ravens in the field with a
67th-place finish (200, +58).
Franklin Pierce has a quick turnaround as the Ravens will compete
in the AIC Spring Invitational on Monday and Tuesday at the
Springfield Country Club in Springfield, Mass. Monday's first round
will begin at 12 p.m., with Tuesday's final round set to start at 9
a.m.
