Golf Opens Spring Season this Past Weekend
B.J. Powers finishes 39th
ENDICOTT, N.Y. (April 10, 2011) -- The Franklin Pierce
University golf team opened its 2011 spring schedule this weekend
as the Ravens competed at the Mike Bello Invitational at the
En-Joie Golf Club in Endicott, N.Y. Franklin Pierce finished 11th
out of 12 teams after the Ravens carded a 689 (+113).
Junior co-captain B.J. Powers (Southbury, Conn.)
was the highest finisher for Franklin Pierce as he placed 39th
following a two-round total of 168 (+24). He carded an 85 on
Friday, but responded with an 83 on Saturday.
Senior Justin Haapala (Danielson, Conn.) finished
eight spots back in 47th with a two-round score of 171 (+27).
Junior Matt Lennon (Bow, N.H.) finished tied for
54th after he carded a two-round total of 175 (+31). Sophomore
Ian Landry (Loudon, N.H.) was the fourth Ravens
golfer to place in the tournament as he finished 63rd with a total
score of 184 (+40).
Franklin Pierce returns to action this week when the team competes
in the River Hawk Invitational in Dracut, Mass from April
15-17.
