Golf Finishes 29th at 2009 NEIGA Championship
Brian Fleckles finishes 45th out of more than 200 golfers
BREWSTER, Mass. (October 20, 2009) – The
Franklin Pierce University golf team finished 29th out of 40 teams
at the 2009 New England Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA)
Championship over the past two days at the 36-hole Captains Golf
Course in Brewster, Mass. on Cape Cod. The Ravens shot a combined
662 (+85) over the two rounds of the championship, which was
sponsored by Cleveland Golf and Srixon, two of the major brand
names in the game.
Brian Fleckles tied for 45th in the event as he
shot a 156 (+12) over the two rounds. It was a high finish for the
Ravens leader, as more than 200 golfers competed in the event.
William Powers followed and finished 118th as he
shot back-to-back rounds of 83 (+22, 166) on Monday and
Tuesday.
The other three Ravens to place in the event, included
Peter Panopoulos (T145th, 170, +26), Ian
Landy (T150th, 171, +27) and Brandon
Weiner (T156th, 173, +29).
The University of Connecticut won the tournament by shooting a
six-over, 582 during the two days.
Franklin Pierce concluded its fall season with competition in the
NEIGA Championship. The team will return to action with its spring
