Landry ties for 21st; Powers ties for 25th

BERNARDSTON, Mass. (October 5, 2009) - The Franklin Pierce University men's golf team placed ninth out of 12 teams with a score of 656 (+80) at the 2009 Northeast-10 Conference Championship. The two-round event was held Sunday and Monday at the Crumpin-Fox Golf Club in Bernardston, Mass., and was hosted by American International.

Ian Landry was Franklin Pierce's highest finisher, as he tied for 21st with a two-round total of 161 (+17). He fired a second-round 79 on Monday to move up in the individual rankings. William Powers was the Ravens other competitor who finished among the top-25 individuals. He placed in a tie for 25th with a total score of 162 (+18). Powers entered the final round in second place after firing a two-over 74 on Sunday.

The other three Ravens to compete in the championship included: Brian Fleckles (T37th, +22, 166); Peter Panopoulos (T39th, +23, 167); and Brandon Weiner (58th, +38, 182).

Franklin Pierce finished three spots higher than its projected finish in the league's preseason poll, which was announced in late September. The Ravens were tabbed to finish 12th in the 12-team league, as the preseason poll was conducted by the conference head coaches.

Adelphi won the 2009 title by shooting a 620 (+44). American International placed second (623, +47), while Southern New Hampshire rounded out the top three with a 632 (+56).
