Golf Ties For Third At Blazers Invitational
Greggerson leads Ravens with 77

CHICOPEE, Mass. (September
30, 2009) – Sophomore Robert Greggerson
(Seekonk, Mass.) shot a 77 on Wednesday afternoon to place
third individually and lead the Franklin Pierce University golf
team to a team score of 331 and a tie for third-place out of 12
teams at the second Blazers Invitational of the season, hosted by
Elms, at Chicopee Country Club. Anna Maria freshman Nate McNamara
took home medalist honors as he carded a 72. Westfield State
captured the team championship by 10 shots with a score of 319.
Behind Greggerson for Franklin Pierce, sophomore Matthew
Lennon (Bow, N.H.) carded an 81 and finished 10th as one
of three Ravens to fire a score in the 80s on the afternoon. Junior
Justin Haapala (Danielson, Conn.) finished tied
for 18th with an 85, while junior Phil Girard (Billerica,
Mass.) shot an 88 to tie for 30th. Freshman Tyler
Merrill (Litchfield, N.H.) rounded out the Ravens five
with a 92 to tie for 39th.
After Westfield State, Rhode Island College finished second with a
329, while Anna Maria and Franklin Pierce each shot 331s to finish
tied for third. Springfield rounded out the top-five with a
334.
Individually behind McNamara, Westfield State freshman Derek
Robichaud finished two shots off the pace in second-place with a
74, while Greggerson took third. Rhode Island College freshman Kyle
Harper (78) finished fourth, while Westfield State junior Brett
Williamson and Springfield sophomore Thomas Sangeloty each shot 79s
to tie for fifth.
The Ravens return to the course on Sunday, Oct. 4 for the
Northeast-10 Conference Championship at Crumpin Fox Golf Club in
Bernardston, Mass.
