Men's Golf Turns in Solid Fourth-Place Showing at WNEC Invitational on Thursday

Sixth time this season Ravens finish among top-five teams in a tournament

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (April 15, 2010) – The Franklin Pierce University golf team shot a 29-over, 317 on Thursday to tie for fourth place in the WNEC Invitational at the Veteran’s Golf Course in Springfield, Mass. It marked the sixth time this season Franklin Pierce finished among the top-five in the team standings of a tournament and the first time this spring they achieved the feat. Babson won the tournament by carding a +18, 306.

Sophomore Brian Fleckles (Sandwich, Mass.) was the highest Franklin Pierce finisher as he placed in a tie for eighth with a six-over par 78. Fleckles was one of three Ravens to finish in the top-15 of the individual standings on the afternoon, as freshman Ian Landry (Loudon, N.H.) and senior Brandon Weiner (Marlboro, N.J.) followed in a tie for 13th place by each firing a 79 (+7).

Sophomore William Powers (Southbury, Conn.) shot a nine-over, 81 to finish in 26th, while senior Derek Flodin (Wilmington, Mass.) placed 55th with a 92 (+20).
