Franklin Pierce Finishes Tied for 12th at Lou Flumere Massachusetts Intercollegiate

Fleckles leads Ravens with six-over-par 78 to place T-11th overall
STOW, Mass. (April 8, 2009) - The Franklin Pierce University golf team opened its spring season tied for 12th overall at the Lou Flumere Massachusetts Intercollegiate, hosted by Bentley University, on the 6,797-yard, par-72 layout at Stow Acres Country Club this afternoon.
Franklin Pierce posted a 334 team score to finish in a 12th-place tie in the 20 team event along with Babson College and Brandeis University. Salem State College took the team title with a score of 302. The Ravens placed sixth among Northeast-10 Conference teams at the event, which was led by Assumption College and Bentley's B-squad which posted identical 321 team scores to finish tied for third overall. Salem State junior Jeff Santora (Millbury, Mass./Millbury) captured medalist honors with a two-under-par round of 70 to finish four-strokes in front of the field.
Freshman Brian Fleckles (Sandwich, Mass./Sandwich) led Franklin Pierce with a six-over-par round of 78 to finish in a tie for 11th overall. Fleckles also finished tied for fourth among NE-10 competitors at the event. Senior Josh Lupinek (East Haddam, Mass./Nathan Hale-Ray) carded an 81 for the Ravens to finish 25th overall out of 100 golfers at the event. Senior captain Corey Dunn (Port Jefferson, N.Y./Comsewogue) posted an 86.
Franklin Pierce returns to the links next Thursday, April 16, when it participates in the Western New England College Invitational at Veterans Country Club in Springfield, Mass.
