Franklin Pierce Places 17th at ECAC Championship

Dunn finishes 39th among 100 individuals with two-day score of 159
RIVERHEAD, N.Y. (September 22, 2008) - The Franklin Pierce University golf team placed 17th at the 2008 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division II Championship on the 6,838-yard, par-71, layout at Long Island National at Riverhead as play concluded this afternoon.
Franklin Pierce posted a two-day score of 670 (334-336) to finish tied with The College of Saint Rose and Caldwell College. Dominican College captured the team championship with a score of 609 (297-312), edging Adelphi University (302-308) by a single stroke. Andrew Lee, of Dominican, earned medalist honors at the event with a one-over-par score of 143 (68-75), defeating Brian Viola, from Saint Thomas Aquinas College, with a birdie on the first playoff hole.
Senior captain Corey Dunn (Port Washington, N.Y./Comsewogue) led Franklin Pierce with a two-day score of 159 (78-81) to place 39th among the 100 individuals competing at the event. Junior Peter Panopoulos (Rindge, N.H./Conant) and freshman Brian Fleckles (Sandwich, Mass./Sandwich) each posted scores of 170.
Franklin Pierce returns to the links on Sunday and Monday for the 2008 Northeast-10 Conference Championship at The Orchards in Holyoke, Mass.
