Franklin Pierce Sits in Tenth Following Day One of AIC/NE-10 Invitational

Fleckles leads Ravens with opening round 84 to stand in 24th place
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (April 20, 2009) - The Franklin Pierce University golf team sits in tenth place after day one of the American International College/Northeast-10 Invitational on the 6,531-yard, par 72, layout at Springfield Country Club today.
Franklin Pierce posted a 350 team score, just ten strokes out of eighth place. Future Northeast-10 member Adelphi University has the lead after day one of the two day event with a score of 317. Host American International College sits six strokes back in second (323), while Southern New Hampshire University rounds out the top three (329). AIC sophomore Garrett Beyor (Monson, Mass./Monson) holds the individual lead after firing a two-over-par round of 74 for the first day. Saint Rose senior Jamie Bacon (Port Perry, Ontario/Port Perry) is just a stroke behind after an opening round 75 (+3).
Freshman Brian Fleckles (Sandwich, Mass./Sandwich) led Franklin Pierce with a round of 84 - good for a tie for 24th overall. Junior Brandon Weiner (Marlboro, N.J./Marlboro) is just a stroke behind after shooting an 85 (t-28th).
The AIC/NE-10 Invitational concludes with second round action tomorrow.
