Franklin Pierce 11th After Day One of NE-10 Championship

Dunn sits 28th after carding 80 to lead Ravens

MARCELLUS, N.Y. (September 23, 2006) - Franklin Pierce sits in 11th place following day one of the 2006 Northeast-10 Conference men's golf championship, hosted by Le Moyne College, at the par-72 Links at Sunset Ridge today.

Franklin Pierce posted a 334 team score and is eight strokes behind Saint Michael's College (326) for tenth position. Host Le Moyne leads the championship after registering a team score of 304 - one stroke better than Assumption College (305) and Bryant University (305). Le Moyne's Dan McCarthy fired a three-under-par round of 69 to lead the individual honors after the first round. Southern New Hampshire's Pat Pelletier (70) and Assumption's Robert Younker (71) also shot under par to round out the top three.

Sophomore Corey Dunn (Port Jefferson, N.Y./Comsewogue) led Franklin Pierce as he carded an 80 on day one and sits in 29th-place overall. Freshman Peter Panopoulos (Rindge, N.H./Conant) notched an 84 (46th plac e), while sophomore Steve Balchunas (Brockton, Mass./Coyle-Cassidy) and junior Kevin Rossi (Kingston, N.Y./Kingston) each recorded rounds of 85 (49th).

Day two of the NE-10 Championship gets underway Sunday at 7:30 a.m.
