Ingoglia earns medallist honors to lead Golden Lions

JAFFREY, N.H.  (September 13, 2006) - Dowling College captured the Franklin Pierce Fall Invitational held on the par-71 layout at The Shattuck this afternoon.

Dowling posted a 325 team score to out-pace the four-team field by 14 strokes. Franklin Pierce took second with a combined score of 339, while the University of Massachusetts Lowell was third (353) and American International College fourth (381). The Ravens "B" squad posted a combined score of 350, which would have been good enough for fourth among the top teams.

Leading Dowling was junior Joe Ingoglia (Kings Park, N.Y./St. Andrews College), who earned medallist honors with a four-over-par round of 75 (37-38), finishing six strokes ahead of the field. Freshman Luke Walters (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) finished in a tie for second overall for the Golden Lions with a round of 81 (43-38).

Freshman Peter Panopoulos (Rindge, N.H./Conant) led Franklin Pierce in his collegiate debut as he carded a round of 81 (38-43) for a second-place tie overall. Junior Craig Jasinski (Chelmsford, Mass./Chelmsford) posted a round of 83 (40-43) to finish in a fifth-place tie. Junior Kevin Rossi (Kingston, N.Y./Kingston) and sophomore Jeff Cornell (East Granby, Conn./East Granby) led the Ravens "B" squad with identical scores of 84, finishing in a seventh-place tie.

Franklin Pierce returns to the links on Saturday and Sunday for the Dowling College Invitational at Long Island National at Riverhead.
