Franklin Pierce Finishes 37th at NEIGA Championship

Greene leads Ravens with back-to-back 81's for 89th overall  

BREWSTER, Mass. (October 18, 2005) - The Franklin Pierce men's golf team finished 37th out of 45 teams competing at the New England Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA) Championships on the par-72 The Captains Golf Course today.

Franklin Pierce followed up Monday's score of 341 with a 343 team score today for a 684 total over the two-day event. The University of Rhode Island took the team championship among New England teams in all three NCAA Divisions with a 592 over the two days. The Ravens placed tenth among fellow Division II programs at the event.

Freshman Jacob Greene (Gardner, Mass./The Winchendon School) led the Ravens as he carded his second-straight 81 for a two-day total of 162, good for a tie for 89th overall among the 226 individual competitors. University of Connecticut's Jason Parajeckas followed up his opening round 69 with a two-under-par 70 on Tuesday for a five-under-par 139 to take medallist honors by five strokes.

Freshman Steve Balchunas (Brockton, Mass./Coyle-Cassidy) shaved a stroke off Monday's score with an 85 on Tuesday for the Ravens, finishing with a two-day score of 171 (T-146). Classmate Corey Dunn (Port Jefferson, N.Y./Comsewogue) also carded an 85 today, trimming two strokes off his Monday score, for a two-day total of 172 (T-154).

Franklin Pierce concludes its fall season on Friday when it hosts its rescheduled Autumn Invitational at The Shattuck in Jaffrey at 11 a.m.
