Ravens senior captain, Mike Smith, wins medallist honors with 78

JAFFREY, N.H.  (October 13, 2004) - The Franklin Pierce men's golf team finished a sweep of its home events this fall as it claimed a second Franklin Pierce Fall Invitational of the season on the par-71 layout at The Shattuck this afternoon.

Franklin Pierce posted a 346 team score to out-pace Springfield College (362), the Ravens B-squad (379) and Green Mountain College (446).

Franklin Pierce senior co-captain Mike Smith (Hanover, Mass./Hanover) earned medallist honors at the event as he carded a 78 on the day. Smith finished five-strokes ahead of Springfield College junior Tyson Briggs (Bennington, Vt.) who posted a round of 83.

Ravens sophomore Mike Farnsworth (Lunenburg, Mass./Lunenburg) fired an 86 to place third overall and lead the Franklin Pierce B-squad, while freshmen Andy Bernardo (Warwick, R.I./Bishop Hendricken) and Craig Jasinski (Chelmsford, Mass./Chelmsford) both posted 89's for the top team, good for fourth overall.

Franklin Pierce rounds out its fall schedule on Sunday and Monday at the New England Intercollegiate Championships on Cape Cod.
